A clearer starting point

Workplace accidents and personal injury claims

Lee Shergill LLP handles injury claims arising at the workplace and in other settings, including accidents involving premises and products. The firm considers the circumstances of each injury and the available claim routes.

An injury at work, on premises or involving a product can affect your health and income. The circumstances of the accident and your working relationship matter when identifying the available claim route. Questions & answers

Work injury compensation questions

What is the difference between WICA and a civil injury claim?

The Work Injury Compensation Act provides a route for eligible employees to claim for work-related injuries or diseases without bringing a civil lawsuit. A common-law claim is a different route with different requirements. Coverage and the choice of route depend on your circumstances; ask the team before making a decision.

What can work injury compensation cover?

For employees covered by WICA, compensation can include medical leave wages, medical expenses and a lump sum for permanent incapacity or death. Conditions and limits apply. Keep your medical leave certificates, bills and employment records, and consult MOM’s current guidance for the applicable rules.

What should I prepare for a workplace accident consultation?

Write down when and where the accident happened and how it was reported. Keep incident reports, photographs, medical documents, employment terms, pay records and messages with your employer or insurer. Tell the team whether a claim has already been submitted or any assessment has been issued.
